This is a unique opportunity to experience a technique used in many situations from pot holing to the construction industry.

Industrial rope access started to evolve in the late seventies/early eighties and owes many of its techniques and equipment to caving and pot holing. Rope Access is now used in many contexts, such as construction industry, window cleaning, building maintenance, geotechnical and offshore. Caving and pot holing relies on the single rope technique. Industrial rope access, which we will use in this taster session relies on a twin rope technique which is a much safer way to work as you always have a back-up rope.

Rope Access has, and is continuing to, grow as a major technique for Working at Height, due to the cost effectiveness and high safety record. In this session we'll be doing some basic rope access manoeuvres and using hauling systems to perform some activities at height.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you plenty of mobility (eg track suit) a top that can easily be removed without taking off the harness, and footwear with a decent sole such as trainers.

Lesley-Ann started her working life in Architectural Practices as an Architectural Technician but after being made redundant she had no idea what she was going to do for work. Lesley-Ann eventually found work with a climbing wall company and it was at their climbing wall centre that she discovered rope access.
